The Rape of Black America

The Rape of Black America

(presented to the Christian Student organization at the Charles County Community College, March, 1999)

Why call this discussion “The RAPE of Black America”?  How does the violent act of rape relate to the abortion issue and its affect in the African American community?

Look at the word Rape: (*Random House Dictionary)

*Rape: 1.  A sexual act committed by force, esp. On a woman; 2. The act of plundering in war; 3. The act of seizing and carrying away by force

*Sexual: of or involving sex, the two sexes, or the sexual organs

*Force: verb: 1. strength exerted; 2. Power to influence, affect, or control; 3. Physical coercion or violence; 4. Persuasive power or power to convince; 9. To compel unwillingly (coercion, constrain, oblige). noun: 5. military or fighting strength, esp. Of a nation; 6. Any body of persons combined for joint action; 7. An influence on a body or system producing a change in movement or in shape;

*War: 2. Any struggle or fight; 5. To be in a state of strong opposition.

*Seize: 1. To take hold of suddenly or forcibly; 2. To take possession of legally; 4. To take advantage of promptly; 5. To affect suddenly and deeply.

*Carry Away: to influence greatly or unreasonably.

Woman: the female of the species that provides the initial physical habitat for newly conceived humans.

When I talk about the rape of black America, it is intrinsic or central and deep-seeded that in this statement I am talking about a specific group of human beings.  And, that these people have been labeled or identified into a group.  In this case, American people of color, with a black-African genetic background from the very moment of conception, have the potential of being included in the socially-labeled group of individuals currently called African Americans.  Inclusion into this group is not as much genetically determined as it is socially, based primarily on the pigmentation of the individual’s skin color.  The darker the color the more likely to be included in the group.

Although, Black people were long ago recognized by ethical scientists as members of the human race, it took the Amendment 14 to the United States Constitution, for people of color to receive legal determination as “persons”, eligible to be granted citizenship in the United States of America and entitlement to full recognition, privileges, and protection under the law.

You may wonder why I have made this statement in this manner.  It is because the history of mankind has demonstrated that just because you are a member of the human race does not guarantee you the right to be treated as a person -- and specific to this discussion; to be considered a person entitled to the privileges and protection under the laws and doctrines granted to any citizen of the United States.

As our country’s history shows in the fight for freedom of blacks, just because you are conceived possessing human DNA does mean you must be treated as a person.  A nation can turn its back on a group of human beings and allow, for greed and personal gain, the inhuman violent treatment of a group of people based solely on what they look like or where they happen to reside.

Blatant lies and bad science have been allowed to distort the humanity of a people group.  In previous decades, misinformation has been the substance to form a legal and social foundation that not only stripped American, people-of-color and African descent of their humanity and unalienable rights but sentenced them to brutal treatment and murder.

At one time in this country; in the halls of a Supreme Court that still makes decisions, and in the meeting rooms of a Congress that still governs this republic, there was a time that people of color were legally considered property to be brought and sold as chattel.  Down streets that are still traveled and in front of buildings still standing, people of color were publicly displayed, manhandled, and auctioned liked cattle.  In businesses still in commerce, farms still planting and harvesting, and homes still holding families, people of color were held as someone’s property; and beaten and murdered at the immoral whim of an owner.  And the major of the voters and citizens; churches and moral elite of this country saw no need to stop this atrocity.

The politically correct position, when this country tolerated slavery, was not to interfere in someone’s choice to own or not own slaves; society felt, for the good of the nation, that there be no judgement made on whether or not someone was morally correct or not to be a master of slaves.  And since these humans of color were legally considered eligible to be a person’s property, it was not up to anyone to determine whether or not that property was to be treated humanly.

Just as the legalization and socialization of slavery was morally wrong, so is the legalization and socialization of abortion morally wrong.  Slavery was morally wrong even though the majority of America wanted to, at least, keep the legal status quo — it was felt that each American should look into their own hearts and stand before their own god and decide for themselves if slavery was a social condition they wanted to participate in either as the receiver of services or the blood soaked profits.  The brutalness of this institution on blacks was irrelevant because the right to choose outweighed the morality.  This right must be preserved even if it is defended with misinformation and lies regarding the humanity of people possessing a black-African heritage.  So, too, is the legal and very profitable $90+billion abortion industry.

What are some of the misinformation abortion supporters use.

Potential humans:        Although scientific evidence proves otherwise, abortion supporters camouflage the humanity of pre-born children behind clinical terms: fetus, zygote.  However, just as the clinical term homo sapiens does not separate you or I from our personhood; clinical terms for the pre-born homo sapien should not classify them as property to be disposed of if conceived at an inconvenient time.

Better World:  Child abuse: since 1973 child abuse has increased 600%.  4x as many children now die each year from child abuse.

Welfare reduced.

Teen pregnancies reduced.

Abortion lesser of 2 evils.  Abortion is evil #1 but what is evil #2-children? Children are not the reason for famines and droughts.  Certainly not earth quakes and war.

Overpopulation myth: Growth rate of world population peaked during 1965-1970 at the rate of 2.04% per year; however, has fallen to 1.48% per year during 1990-1995.  A rate of 2.1% per year is needed to maintain a stable population replacement worldwide.  This means that there are more people dying than are being born.

In 1985, the world’s total fertility rate -- the number of children born per woman, was 4.2; now it’s 2.9.  The average replacement needed is 2.1 children per woman.  The average number of children per American women was 8 in 1790; in 1990 it was 2.08; and now its 1.98.  “World is facing a rapid decrease in the human birth rate that may adversely affect all life on Earth.” .

The world population is declining more rapidly in the West than South (which includes for the most part the underdeveloped nations many located on the African continent).  What’s is happening, as the world depopulates, is a global redistribution of the people.  Today, the ratio of population is approx. 4 in the underdeveloped nations (which includes Africa) to 1 in the more developed nations (which includes the United States).  If projections continue, by the year 2050 the ratio will be 7 to 1.  The ratio between Europe and Africa now is 1 to 1; but in 50 years “there will be 3 Africans for every 1 European.”  Except African Americans which will have a death rate higher than birth rate by 2035.

.

Safe:                Sterility: 2-5% of abortion procedures result in sterility

Ectopic pregnancy: 50% increase of risk that subsequent pregnancies will end as ectopic pregnancy.

Miscarriage: over 2 times more likely to miscarry subsequent pregnancies

Premature births: 2 times more likely to birth prematurely

Breast Cancer: A 1994 study published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute indicates that women who abort after age 30 increase their breast cancer risk by 110%, and women aborting under age 18 increase their risk by 150%.  More astonishing is that a 1993 Howard University study showed that African-American women over age 50 were 4.7 times more likely to get breast cancer if they had had any abortions compared to women who’d not had any abortions.

Post-abortion syndrome: 11-60% of women who have abortions suffer from emotional and mental trauma from the procedural experience

Deaths: Women died every year from legal abortions.  Deaths occur as a result of hemorrhage and severe infection.

Rare:    Ö4,400 abortions per day; 183 per hour; 3 per minute.

ÖAfrican Americans represent 11-12% of the USA population yet have been placed in a position where we have had from 25-43% of the abortions in the USA.  ÖGenerally, 1/3 of all abortions are African American.  This means that every minute a black child is kill by surgical abortion — that’s 1,466 every day

The number of black babies dying from abortion in one year corresponds to 2% of the total black population while the number of white babies correspond to 9/10 of 1% of the total white population. During this same year the abortion rate for nonwhites was 55.8 abortions per 1000 compared to 23.3 abortions for 1000 white women.

Women exercising their right to choose: When the child’s sex is reported, 42% of the children aborted are girls compared to 25% boys.

The mother experiences 100% of the physical complications and risks of the surgery versus the father who experiences 0%.

During the time slavery was considered legal and profitable commerce, there were people of moral character struggling to correct this mis-guidance of law — tireless and fearless blacks and whites, fought for the abolition of slavery.  It was a war!  And the pro-slavery industry had the government, business, media, and public opinion behind them.  Slave owners or masters were the wealthiest and respected -- or at least tolerated -- people in the world.  Keeping slavery legal and protected by the government meant prosperity.  The abolitionists were hard working people with nothing to gain and everything to loose; but they knew they were right and they were willing to do whatever it took to outlaw the bondage of another human being.

Equally the same for abortion. There is a moral wrong that is legal, excepted and profitable.  The multi-billion dollar abortion industry is one of the wealthiest lobbying blocks in this country.  There are more regulations regarding the piercing of a girl’s ears than there are for the surgical procedure of killing a baby inside of his or her mother.  The power of an industry that earns over $10 billion annually worldwide — that’s over $90 billion in the U.S. over the past 20+ years; is a force that has incredible power to influence and coerce.  The abortion industry is completely and blindly supported by government, business, media, and public opinion.  However, citizens for the abolition of abortion are hard working people; people with a moral steadfastness and conscience.  We have nothing to gain financially but all to gain morally.   We know that once the children are safe, the work has only just begun.  There is a need for social change so this culture can develop lifestyles that will not place a live or die decision over anyone’s life.  Regardless of the circumstances of our conception; physical or mental challenges we face; or our economic, social, or family backgrounds; we are conceived as unique individuals, all with the potential of being productive citizens.

The gap left by the killing of millions of children is just being felt.  As for Black America, the rape continues.  We must recognize the repeat of history, the moral decade we are finding ourselves in — our greatest assests are being taken from us.  We must stop this assault, become informed and proactive.
